Installing Coolent Filter

I got my coolent filter yesterday and need everyone's input.

I'm planning on draining the coolent so I can install the filter without losing coolent then install filter and refill with what was taken out. My question is if that would be a good idea or should I do a complete flush and then put fresh coolent in. I had my coolent flush and refilled about a month ago so it should still be good.

You will not need to drain all your coolant...just about a gallon or so. If you filter setup tees into the heater line that will drop the level low enough so that you don't lose much. Which coolant filter system did you get?

I just used some clamps on the hose before I made my cut. Lost maybe a few ounces of coolant.

No need to drain the system, but remember to relieve the pressure by loosening the cap on the degas bottle. Only lost about half a cup doing mine, and didn't bother (didn't think of) clamping the lines.

Do yourself a favor and don't re-use the lousy spring clamps that Ford uses. Replace with a quality worm screw clamp and you will be miles ahead.

I installed mind as instructed, moved it after first filter change to bumper bracket in right front, cut bracket, drilled 2 holes & 1/2" nuts as spacers. Routed hoses thru existing openings by washer bottle. Easy to change & on spillage in engine compartment.

I like that. I have my Dieselsite coolant filter in the recommended
location near the pass side battery, and it's a challenge to replace
the filter - I can barely get my hand in there.
