Looking For Engine Analyzer

I need a engine analyzer it does not have to be fancy. I just need it to find what code has been thrown and then clear it.

Any recommendations?

Unfortunately, Ford used some fancy codes on these trucks, requiring fancy analyzers to read the codes. You can get a basic one and see some basic stuff, but it won't find everything. It makes good business sense for Ford to do it this way. This discourages people from doing what you and I want to do - bypass using the dealership to troubleshoot our trucks. I will be buying the AutoEnginuity with the Ford module for about $400 when it comes time. Sure, I could go cheaper with another unit - but that would be a half-measure and I still would not get all my answers. Think of it this way: If you use it twice, it paid for itself and then some.

That being said, there is one more perk to going the $400: I have a netbook with pix, vids, PDFs, my DP tunes with interface for the F6, GPS, and everything else related to my Superduty. I will have the AutoEnginuity system running and monitor key information while driving in different situations and tunes. This will allow me to spot things in the real world that even the dealership can't do in the shop. This approach can also catch intermittent problems in the act.

I just thought this was worth factoring into the decision process. You can look into buying the AutoEnginuity without the Ford module at first, then get the module later in order to pace the expense - I don't yet know if that's possible because my plan is to go all-in.

I was thinking of getting a plug in tuner like a Superchip that can get codes and clear them, and a plus I would like to try the low tow setting. Do you know if the plug in scanners are restricted on getting all the codes as well?

Hmmm.... I'm not the expert on this, I just know what I want to do and I did my research on how to do that. If I am reading this correctly, you are trying to do some heavy work with the truck and the truck is protesting. My tuner takes care of all of that without input from me. I want my AE so I can get to know the engines normal behavior before anything happens or I change anything, I can troubleshoot some minor annoyances I have now, and I can be prepared for the day when this thing will really pay for itself.

If you are having a particular problem or want to do something different with your truck, it might help to list the goal and somebody who achieved that same goal can chime in to help if I can't.
