Need a trailer hitch.

91 F-250 4X4. Needing a 2" reciever hitch for it. Can I make a deal with someone? I would love something I could simply bolt on.

A salvage yard might have one for you. Here's a handy hint... look not just for ford '87-'96 hitches, but also for Dodge Dakota or Ram early 90's. I say this because I had a '96 Dakota and got a salvaged class IV hitch to put on it. I never installed it before selling the truck. Later when I got the '94 F350, I was looking at that hitch and it looked similar in size to the ford's frame. I held it up to the frame and, voila, it fits perfectly. Now, there is a chance that the salvage yard sold me the wrong hitch, so if you find a dodge hitch for your ford, doublecheck the dimensions before buying it.

good luck, peace out, cheers...

I just bought a Class 5 hitch on eBay for $125 by searching for the model number referenced by Curt. They had it listed for a 1977 dodge D250, but it mates up to my frame just fine.

Most of those hitches will work on just about anything.. Put a Class 5 Valley on my fathers '72 C10. listing on the side of the box, had just about everything covered. '60-'87 Chevy, Dodge from like '70-'93, Ford from like '80-'96. we took it out of the box figuring it wasn't going to fit right, but the center bar was drilled in a few places, and it lined up and fit nearly perfect, only lost the spare tire carrier.

I have seen those universal setups at wal mart and elsewhere, but I have seen few on trucks that I have worked on. (professional mechanic for 20 yrs) Most are vehicle specific so unless the frame is the same width it wont be real easy to make the wrong one work. On my 88 toyota I tried one from a full size chevy, and the toyota frame was quite a bit wider than the chevy.

I think it was specific enough that the frames are close in width.. As I remember, there were only 2 sets of holes for the width. Dodge and Ford used the inside holes and Chevy used the outside holes IIRC.. it went up in less than an hr.
