You would need to patch a big hole and getting the holes drilled in the right spots for the studs that mount the box would be a pia. When I did mine I cut the whole section out of a non ac cab, cut the whole ac section out and welded the non ac pannel into the fire wall.

That would probably be the easiest way to do it if you already have a donor cab. You'd have to cut a piece of metal to cover the big hole anyway, so the only real extra work would be to cut the metal out of the donor cab.
Not too big a deal since you can get one new or rebuilt. Many people are upgrading the compressors anyway. The rest of the stuff people are looking for.
