Hey again,
My truck has a major wiring problem and I'm wondering if there is anyone else who had this happen to them as I'm looking for advice.
The truck from time to time keeps sending engine codes P2138 and P2140 and also the radio from time to time will switch stations on its own and crank the volume to max without touching it.
What wiring harness would have to be replaced to fix this issue? Part # would be great.
Is there anywhere in particular that these trucks would be chafing the wires?
I've checked the wires and plug on the accel pedal and they're like new.
Truck is a 2003 f-350 super duty 6.0 with adjustable pedals and torqueshift 5-speed trans, 4x4 dually.
Thanks.
Do you have the buttons on the steering wheel where you can control volume, fan speed and so forth? The codes you listed refer to Throttle/Pedal position sensor errors. I am no Ford technician by any stretch of the imagination but if it were my truck I would be looking around near the steering column up under that dash or in that general vicinity (if you have those buttons I mentioned in the first sentence).
Edit: Sorry, I didn't read your post thoroughly enough. You have already looked where I said to look.
I don't have any controls in the steering wheel except the cruise control which works fine.
I checked all the wires and plugs inside the truck but haven't seen any chaffed wires or corroded connections but applied die electric grease to my plugs anyway.
Could it be the connection at the pcm causing these problems?
Well, I checked all the connections at the PCM and they're all like brand new. Also checked the backs of the plugs and there is absolutly no breaks or corrosion what so ever.
Could anyone tell me where the wires coming from the accelerator pedal go to?
If I could find that out I'd test each wire from end to end individually.
Hopefully someone knows. \
Thanks
Get your owners manual out and look at the relays. Find a relay or relays that operate the thnigs that don't work. Swap them with another relay of the same type.
My interior lights would stay on all the time, my radio and windows did not work. When I swapped the ''time delay" relay with another similar relay, everything worked again. I took the relay apart and found the contacts were burnt. I cleaned the residue off of them and the relay worked fine.

Thanks for sharing that. It gives me some ideas to try with my wife's Focus.
Well I've followed a wiring diagram for the trucks wire system and it seems that my problem with the accel pedal lies within the ignition switch. I suppose that would be why the pedal will work again if I shut the truck off and restart it.
For future reference the wires from the accel pedal run to 1 fuse only (no relays) and through the ignition switch then off to the PCM module.
If anyone else is was ever wondering.
I ordered one of those $20 Service Manual CD's from ebay yesterday. They claim it contains the same information that Ford service personnel can access. Of course I am aware of snake oil salesmen. If it ends up being crap at least it was only $20.
Anyway, I am curious to see what detail they go into regarding the electrical system. It is being shipped by slow boat from China because I can expect delivery to take up to 2 weeks.
