Hello all....I am used to posting over in the dentside section....anyway, I have a 98 5.4 that, when cold, idles fine. ifI open the throttle suddenly, the engine stumbles and almost dies. If I slowly rev it, it will accelerate fine.
The warmer the engine gets, the less the stumble upon moderate/sudden acceleration. When fully warm, it runs great with no power issues.
Ijust serviced it and could smell gass in the oil. The unit sits alot (32,000 miles) I R+R the fuel filter with no effect....fuel pressure is normal and there are no codes. I can see nothing with the scanner that looks out of line.....Any thoughts?
Smell of gas in the oil, when you checked your fuel pressure at the rail did you do the hold test for 5 mins to see if your pressure drops within that 5 mins, indicating a leaking injector or injectors, constant drip until pressure is gone ususally ends up wih gas in the oil pan, does exhaust smell gassy on start up?
I have to go get the fuel pressure gauge again to check the injectors like referred to before....i put fuel injector cleaner in it and drove it today. It did feel a little weak on power and the SES light came on. It has active lean bank 1 and 2 codes P0171 and P0174. Does a 98 e-150 5.4 have a fuel rail pressure sensor? Because my scanner shows 0.....I know i need to recheck fuel pressure when i get my gauge back....
Just curious bout the sensor....
