As I suspect many of you know, Carriage has gone under and is auctioning off everything in the plant. Many components are bundled in large lots, but not all. There also are several high mileage power strokes in the auction. Here is the link, in case anyone wants to take a look, http://myronbowling.com/_filelib/Fil...Copy-lores.pdf
Was just sitting here with my wife going over the buy list. I could retail a lot of stuff, but the quanities are too large in many cases. I expect a lot of stuff will just move a few miles away to other manufacturers, especially since EverGreen just hired the Carriage execs and 65 line workers to make their new high-end fifth wheel. Wonder if by chance it will look like a Carriage. Not sure I would want one of the models with the 29-foot slide. I test drove a couple of motor homes that had the full-wall slides and when I ran them out I was afraid the whole coach was going to fall over on its side.
Guess how good a month I have in January will determine whether I make the trip. Wife definitely can't go as I know that would mean we would be hauling a new camper back home. It's 600 miles each way and that is one boring drive.
Without knowing anything about Carriage in particular I'll just say I hate to see even more RV companies going under....especially this far into the economic slump.

The reality is most of the principals have already set up new operations with new names. Just cleared the debt slate. Carriage was high-end and is a very old company. Sales have started to come back up and I think if they would have held on for maybe six months more, they would have been okay. RV manufacturers are very strange. Folks often think of them in the same light as automotive companies, but they are much different. Very ego centric.
It's a shame to see Carriage go under. I was really close to buying a Cameo fifth wheel a couple of years ago but a couple of major family emergencies / issues pushed our plans back. I have always been impressed with their products.

Hey man,
This could be your lucky day, there are several for sale at the auction.
Seriously, I would be surprized if the complete units go for much under book. By the time this auction rolls around, it will be buying season for dealers and I am sure they will be there in force. You never know, however. There are several units that are listed as new, but are several years old and all I can think is there must have been a problem with quality control on them. If you could buy them near book wholesale, they could be flipped pretty easily.
The real large models will find a ready market in Europe.
29 ft slide! That sounds scary. I guess if you are a snow bird, it may be ok. 2 times a year you actually slide it in and slide it back out.
Man, that's my thought too. When they get that big and hang, you can't budge em. Smaller slides not so bad. Motor homes went with the full wall slides, but they were dropped fairly quickly, at least by most manufacturers.
To bad about Carriage. I bought my '05' last year, really like it and at the time thought that Carriage was in a good financial place. You never know. How about the folks that bought a brand new one and just took delivery. I wonder who's new trailer sitting for auction that didn't make out the door in time, I'll bet they're glad it didn't make it but what about the down payment, I assume those people got it back.
yes very sad as to how this VIABLE company folded.. we have an 08.. and where going to order a new carrilite in november when we where told they that they where going under... sad.... as it is the BEST unit we have ever owned...(this is our 11 th fifthwheel trailer.. and our 3rd carriage )
Since Redwood / Thor bought the rights to the Cameo, Carri-Lite, and Royals International names, we may see a revival of them. I also wonder if Thor will honor existing Carriage warranties. If so, it may help dealers that currently have new Carriage inventory on the lot.

Since the intellectual property rights were purchased, it is hard to know if the names will survive or just the design features.
