They're both free. Why not leave them then you don't have to unplug or remove anything. The F5 chip is capable of 16 tunes so there's ample room for them.
With the F5 does anyone know if you could have like some dp tunes then send the chip to like php and get tunes from them whille keeping the dp tunes on? i kinda worded it confusing. but does anyone know if you can or has anyone done so?
When you say dont use it unless i need it. What do you mean by that. I plan on getting a chip in the comming months, I would like to get smoke tune just to show off. does it hurt anything ?
the only thing smoke tune does is burn a lot of fuel, and i would imagine it will probably put your EGT's way above a safe level too.

why would you want to do this when both tunes are basically the same thing?

I was thinking about getting some diffrent tune makers and comparing mpgs and power just to seew which is better. but now that ive been researching more into it, i may just get a 6 position chip with php tunes for now.
A stock setting is really handy. Sure you can remove the chip, but that takes time and is a hassle in general, but for testing and other scenarios, a stock setting helps.
I pretty much always drive in the 140 setting anyway so I actually only have a 4 position chip: High Idle, Whisper, 80 hp, and 140 Xtreme! I see no need for anything else.
For the record, these are PHP tunes. I have not run DP Tunes for many years but have not heard anything bad about their stuff and they have always been very responsive to calls and emails.
The drive-thru/Whisper works well for the OBS< not so well for the SD trucks.
The DP Tuner is NOT compatible with other tuners (PHP, TW, etc) because they are mapped differently. I believe, not completely sure, that the other tuners cannot use the DP system and DP cannot burn on TS chips.

+1, esp. the no-start. The whole point of it is anti-theft security. Any place where I'd want to use it, I wouldn't want to be fishing around under the hood reaching for the CPS connector. And if you frequently park in an area where you need it, you gotta wonder how many plug/unplug cycles that connector is good for. A switch is designed to cycle thousands of times.

If you do it for your buddies on occasion or at a diesel show or competiton - probably not. If you do it all over town, from every red light and stop sign, through every gear - Yeah. It hurts any progress that responsible diesel owners might be making in the eyes of tree loving, farting-in-a-wine glass to smell it, prius-driving, hippie b-holes who also just happen to have a handle on the beans of every spineless lawmaker around. But it sure is fun to quiet down that loud music coming from the open window of the 1986 El Dorado on the side streets every now and again when no one else is around. Just my $0.02... Or maybe it's more like $0.07 this time.

I'm under the impression that he CAN burn TS style but WILL NOT.

Right if you get a DP, your stuck with it. There is no sending the chip to another tuner and reburning it. You will have to buy a TS style chip to try any other tuner. The DP digital switch is kinda cool, but It's kinda tough to find a nice place to mount it and I wouldn't let that switch sway me one way or the other on tunes either. Good tunes are good tunes, I don't care if I have the rotary **** or the digital switch. On the smoke tunes, I wouldn't bother with those either. Wait til you have aftermarket injectors, get a race tune and it'll smoke all you want it to...
