What is the torque for the harmonic balancer on 351m/400. I have a 351m and a convert to 400 by changing the crank and piston. I need some # for the torque it will be grately appreciate. I have the Monero book but i can't find it.thank in advance.
thank you, it's all done. Now i can put oil in it. Before start up i need to prime the oil system. I read some where i can prime with a drill. I don't have the special tool but if i remove the distributer how can i done that ?
First engine rebuilt with aussie head and tim piston 9.5:1 0.030 over, straight up timing chain, permormer 400 edelbrock intake, 600cfm edelbrock carb, roller rocker, custom push-rods, extrem energy cam, lifter, rebuilt head with new valve(stainles) 3 angles valve job with new valve guide on exhaust side, spring to match the cam, rebuild 400 crank 0.010 under, new oil pump, water pump, complete gasket set. Missing bolt on intake hole for vaccum i guess, oil pressure sending unit, spark plug and wire. Gonna bring to the dyno shop for break-up and know the torque and hp.
mustang81........... you and I have talked before. We have roughly the same build. If you have an unused/ dummied distributor you can make the tool you need. I believe if you gut the top of the distributor and use the distributor shaft and pump rod you'll be able to prime the engine. OR the dyno shop will do it for you. Let us know the numbers you get. I used a socket set with extension that fitted the hex oil pump-dizzy drive but also went down the hole so a slim 3/8 one is the go. I also had an adapter made up from a piece of 3/8 square steel (any machine/engineering shop will have 3/8 key steel cheap) with a triangle quickly ground into it to transmit the drive from the drill to the socket extension. One trick though use some insulation tape to fix the socket to the extension so it doesnt fall off. Remember to drive the drill backwards and dont blow it up, if it starts to smell give it a rest for a while LOL. Go until oil comes out everywhere rockers etc. That engine package should go really well.

Yes i have one more distributor i'm not going to use, so i'm gonna take the time to look at that, never think about that. Maybe use extention and 3/8.
