Fuel Issues?
I'm fairly new to diesels, I currently have a 92 F-250 7.3 with an ATS turbo. Tonight I was driving and the truck seemed to lose power and when I let off the gas and pushed in the clutch it died. I pulled over but it wouldn't restart. I let it sit while waiting on jumper cables. Then it fired up but was knocking and didn't drive right. The fuel line from the filter housing to IP is clear and shows fuel in it. Is it possible the IP is going bad or does anyone have any suggestions on what I should look at tomorrow? I don't know how old the fuel filter is but im thinking its not stopped up since I see fuel in the line after it?
Thanks

Should I just replace the fuel filter since I dont know how old it is?
GACowboy, when you filled the tanks, you could have gotten a bad batch of fuel. Its possible the filter is old and clogged as well. Driving along, it sucks all kinds of crap up against the in tank screen, as well as the fuel filter. At some point it gets too thick and fuel won't pass through, so the engine dies. Without the constant sucking, some of the debris falls off the filter and the truck can restart.
I had an issue like that with a minivan I used to own. Some ****** dumped sand in the tank. I could drive around town no problem, but after a bit of highway driving it would stall out. After pulling over and coasting to a stop, it would restart fine, then repeat further down the highway. I was younger and didn't know as much then so couldn't really describe the problem right and it was so intermittent the garage thought it might be a transmission problem. After swapping the tranny, it still happened, but I was off to college at that point. It eventually got worse, and had one or two dead cylinders with clogged injectors before it was finally figured out.
