how many miles on your IDI. Mines been pretty good.
I have no clue on the IDI... I was assuming it had over 200k when I got it.. I have had it for about 5 or 6 years. Not sure how many times its rolled over, So I guess around 300k or more? My PSD has right at 250K on it.
I am hoping its a bad oring..I dont like talking about holes in the fuel canister...That sounds expensive..lol
Oh and to add, If it makes a difference, It does not leak till it gets warmed up... I started it up the other day and I could not find the leak. I let it warm up for a 10 min then it started spraying out.
Seeing that video of the fuel spraying out brought back bad memories! It looked just like mine when the fuel pump started to go bad (ie-- puddles on the driveway, valley of death constantly wet). You need to use an inspection mirror and put it up under the bottom of the fuel pump so that you can see the bottom of the pump. When the fuel pump seals fail, the fuel "pees" out through a tiny weep hole in the bottom of the fuel pump. All fuel pumps do this to 'alert' you that there's a seal leak. Water pumps have a weep hole too. Not 100% sure it's your fuel pump but use that inspection mirror under the pump and a very bright flash light to confirm.
Hey, Sorry been real busy with work and every dang day that I was able to work on my truck it rained here... Go Figure...lol... Anyways I charged the batteries tonight.. Started it up and let it Idle for about 10 min and Could not see a leak, Drove it around the block nothing.. let it idle for 10-15 more min hitting the gas pedal from time to time and still can see the leak. It does still have some fuel in the valley from last time. But the leak in the video is not there anymore, or atleast its not spraying out. I took off the black cover and so I could see better but I could not see see anything coming from the fuel bowl. From what I can see now that the cover is off looks like the leak was coming from the Drain Valve. But not sure since I nothing is coming out now. I did open up the fuel bowl and it does did not seem to have a crack in it. It is Full of fuel as we speak after sitting for awhile so I dont think it is cracked or anything.
I am thinking about Just pulling the fuel bowl out and replacing all the O rings and Maybe replacing the Fuel Pump... not sure... I just wanna start driving it again, its been sitting for way too long!

That is weird, did you move by any chance the cap of the fuel bowl? Maybe it was loose IDK.
Keep posting
Well started her up today and went inside for two min. Came outside and it was pouring out... Popped the hood and was looking around since tha black cover is off and I can see more area... Valley was slap full as you would imagine, I could see bubbling fuel back behind the fuel bowl but not from the fuel bowl. I suspect it is coming from the fuel pump? Almost positive it is the fuel pump! In the video the valley was dry before the leak so it could spray up under... Where is the weep hole on the fuel pump? Is it on the bottom? Will it spray out of the weep hole with lots of pressure?? I have never changed the fuel pump, it is located behind the fuel bowl correct? Is it hard to change out?? I am use to working on my IDI, everything is simple on it lol
weep hole is on the bottom....and no it is usually not that pressurized ...more like a drip ...at least mine did that....what are the small fuel lines that go from the pump to the filterbowl like ? also could be the restriction sensor....looks like a temp sensor and is black ...those leak alot as well
Wherever its leaking, its coming out with some pressure. Sounds like I just need to dry up the valley and see if I can see where it's coming from. Hope it's something simple lol
I didn't read your whole thread but I would get your inspection mirror and look at the pump reall good, identify where the weephole is the start it and check them again. Whatch out for that big spining thing in the front and all the little spinning things around it.
What year is your vehicle? Is it a "Cali"?

Spinning thing in the front?? And around? It's 97, Cali?
