I have a 2002 F-350 dually with a NADP heavy hauler auto transmission. I pull a 30' dually gooseneck on the farm with 20 000 pound of hay, tractor or Bobcat stuff on it. I find loading and unloading, or parking to get a gate i get way to much tension on the parking pin of the transmission, even with the ebrake. I know the towtrucks use the Afco brake locks when they hook onto cars to pull them out. Anybody ever use these systems? If so, how did it work, and do you think that would help me in my situation for loading/unloading and short park periods for gates etc?
if thats a hydraulic brake lock, ive used them on several different trucks and they worked great but been told to not leave them on for extended periods, like over nite can be hard on brake clipers & wheel cylinders
My Father In-law runs a towing business. He has Mico brake locks on his wreckers. Holds much better than just the E-brake. A&W Direct has a couple different brands and seem to be reasonably priced.
