On the post here that refers to another Ford site where it shows how to add a cable to use the 2nd USB port someone mentioned to keep your Sync updated. I do not understand what is there to update? And- how does one update Sync?
Update your Sync at your own risk. Reason I say this, when I updated my Sync, it started acting up. It would see my flash drive in my 2nd USB port at times then it wouldn't. It would see the same flash drive in the front USB port at times and then it wouldn't.
Pressing the talk/media button on the steering wheel would work and then it wouldn't. The lady in the dash would talk at times then she wouldn't. Sometimes when I left the flash drive in the unit, the head unit would default to the AM band.
I reset my Sync back to factory defaults and it worked for about a day. I disconnected the battery per Ford dealer instructions and it worked for about a day.
I wound up getting the Audio Control Module reprogrammed with the latest Sync software at the dealer and that was on Jan. 3rd. So far it is still performing like it did when I bought the truck.
If it acts up again, they said the will replace the ACM. I will let well enough alone if SyncMyRide tells me I need an update.
That's my opinion anyway.
I think I'm going to disable sync from my phone. I'm not impressed one damned bit, the steering wheel controls don't work like they should and today when my call ended, I couldn't get the system to go back to the radio. When it finally did, it went back tot he AM band.
I'm not even going to complain tot he dealer about it, I don't care about it and I don't care if it works.
Once again Ford has taken a system that works great for everyone else and made it real complicated and unreliable.
Remember, Sync is designed & built by Microsoft.........so, if you like the newest & latest from MS, then go for it....otherwise, wait until they have version 4.1 with the bugs fixed and then download it!

Amen to that! MS is infamous for letting end users find there problems. I tried updating my Sync for a compatibility problem with iTunes; long story short it did not update but did manage to change my phone to PRIVACY IN on incoming calls forcing me to use the phone to talk but it will use the speakers on outgoing calls. I haven't been able to get it back and gave up in frustration for awhile.
