I knew it was only a matter of time but it finally happened.

Slow or no screen response, no volume control either via the steering wheel or the actual ****, no temp or volume control indicator on the screen, can`t change the source, intermittent or no GPS which on the screen is in red with a red circle around it and a red slash mark through GPS, bluetooth disconnects all by itself and reverts to Sirius, when the factory navigation starts to talk, it doesn`t complete the sentence, WiFi disconnects from home network or doesn`t connect at all, but sometimes everything thing will work just fine but only for a few minutes. LoL.
Oh well, my 2016 F150 is still under the factory warranty so a trip to the dealer is coming up.
I wonder if they`ve figured out what caused this problem and if the replacement APIM is an updated one.
I hope this info helps someone out who`s having any of the above issues and if you are, there`s a good chance it`s only going to get worse.
Have a great day.
I’ve never had that many issues, but have had my APIM replaced to try and address the “frozen stereo” screen problem. No fix. I don’t even bother mentioning the unstable Bluetooth connection. Sometimes it won’t even recognize my phone when I’m plugged into one of the USB ports. Then again, to be fair, it could be my phone. Not that I have any problems with my other Bluetooth devices, including my cheap Chinese-made Bluetooth ear buds from Amazon.
After a year and a half of owning my 2016 XLT 300A this happened to me. After an hour of driving I glanced at the display as I backed into a parking spot and the display was dark. The radio was playing and the only button on the dash that worked was the volume - the rest were dead. Same with the steering wheel buttons ... all media buttons were dead except the two volume ones. After turning off the ignition and getting out, the radio continued playing for about 15 seconds after I had opened the door. The hour-long drive home was very boring as I couldn't get the radio back on. I let the truck sit in the garage for about 6 hours that evening before going out and seeing if anything had changed. I opened the door and waited, and the display eventually came up with the Ford logo. I hopped in and started it and tapped the ON/OFF button and the radio came on as usual and after putting the truck into reverse the backup camera worked. This is an issue with pre-Nov 1st-built 2016 trucks. There are two possible SSM's and your dealer picks whichever one they feel is required according to what you tell them: SSM-46367 & SSM-47380. The last one is the one my dealer chose when I went in the next day to tell them of the problem. This took about an hour - their IDS is a slow beast. The next day I logged into my Ford account to see what showed up regarding this issue and all I found was that my basic Sync had been upgraded to 5.11 from 5.10. Coming up on 3 months and it hasn't happened again, but who knows why it happened in the first place after 18 months of problem-free driving.

Thanks for the info about the SSM`s and yes, my truck was built in late 2015. I`ll bring this info up to them when I take it in and hopefully they can fix it via IDS instead of replacing the APIM.

Sorry to hear about your problems...good luck.
I`ve been looking on the internet and various forums for a good amount of time today and I noticed something that I`ve never heard anyone else mention that might be the cause of the problem and that is the actual "cable" that connects the APIM to the display screen. New APIM`s do not come with a cable so more than likely when the APIM`s are replaced, the old cable is used. From what i`ve seen online, it`s a special cable that cost around $50.00 dollars. I`m not saying that this is the problem but perhaps a bad batch were produced and that might explain why dealers can`t find or pinpoint down the problem because it could be something as simple as a bad connection in the cable itself or the connectors on the cable and maybe vibration or heat causes the cable to loose contact with one of the pins on the APIM. I`m tempted to order one from 4D Tech to see if that would fix the problem.
