New Head Unit
Decided that I'm going to keep the truck rather than trade it in, so I went with a JVC KW-NT810HDT paired with the Infinity Reference speakers in my sig. The system sounds very good, keeping in mind that I started off with the Ford basic system. So, not audiophile quality but sounds better than my wife's 2013 Volvo.
The new system allowed me to add a back up camera that I really needed for pulling the boat. I have it wired through an Upfitter so that I can check on the boat when I am pulling it. The camera will also come on when I put the truck in reverse.
Kept the steering wheel controls and bypassed the parking break so that my wife can plug in new addresses to the navigation or back seat passengers can watch a movie while the truck is in motion.
Two things that I found interesting is that I can keep my iphone/ipad in the glove box and control it from the steering wheel or touch screen - so any video, songs, etc are always accessible and the iphone/ipad always stays charged.
And I just posted this on another thread -- I bypassed Sync, but the USB connector in the dash still charges cell phones, etc.
Finally, one feature that I didn't realize that I would like/need is with HD Radio there is a lifetime subscription to traffic, weather and a few other things like sports scores, etc. The traffic alerts work very well in the Houston area and the navigation will automatically re-route if there is an accident, etc.
I have a cheapo pyle version of that head unit, nav works great, DVD and CD player work great, am/fm radio SUCKS, bluetooth works okay but the mic sucks, people have a hard time hearing me.
Has backup camera input, but I haven't got it hooked up.
But, it only cost me $200, and iHeart radio makes up for a lot of it's shortcomings.
