Regen Question

So I was driving down the road today and my truck started running weird! I actually moved into the slow lane just in case it was going to die. About 30-45 seconds later my truck went into regen. Is this something others are experiencing?

The only way I can tell that mine is going to regen is if I see the quick message on the display and then the fuel mileage gets really crappy. I can always tell when its done because the mpg's go back up. Never experienced it running wierd before the regen??

Sometimes although rare, my engine suddenly sounds like a 6.0L when it enters active regeneration.
I don't know what causes this other than the increase of fuel.
Active regen actually begins about 30 seconds before the factory message is reported on the info center.

Me too, actually sounds like a diesel for a few seconds. I like to turn the radio off and savor it when I catch it happening!

The only thing I've noticed on mine when it goes into and out of regen, is like a quick "shudder"/"stutter" less than a one one thousand second full count. That and the instant fuel economy plummets-*

Side note- I think it's funny how many of us (myself included- so I'm not pokin fun) are fixated on the fuel economy durring regen. I used to get all bummed about it ruining my avg economy per tank when it ran a regen. But have chosen to welcome the regen; because the economy tends to slowly decline as the truck is approaching the point when it needs a regen, then improves quite a bit (comparatively) on the instant economy indicator.

Also I know the indicator is often referred to as the "lie-o-meter" bu I have to say, I believe it to be nearly as accurate as hand calculated- here's why; when you go to the trip odometer, the display shows, miles, time, avg economy, and gallons used. So far the gallons used information has been within .2 (2 tenths) of a gallon at every fill-up. I believe that's an acceptable margin of error, because most of that .2 gal difference probably is more related to the way I pump, and how many times I click the nozzle after it clicks off the first time.

It is somewhat common, but I believe it is related to fuel quality. Running on the same source of fuel, I do not have this when using a good fuel additive. It was bad before I started using additive and sounded much like detonation in a gas engine. Ironically I ran out of fuel additive prior to my last fill-up and voila the whole experience came back yesterday when I had a regen!

Regen - stutter

I noticed yesterday driving home from work that my engine stuttered, seemed like it missed a few beats - enough that I started pulling over and my Chevy Diesel owner friend asked whats up? I had time to say the engine started missing and then got the Regen message. So it does seem to run weird for a bit. He of course said his never does that and he never heard of a regen. I beleive him. This engine is definitely different. So far I love the truck and the power when pulling 7,000lbs, but it does seem to have lets call them idiosyncracies.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was not sure if I needed to take it in but it sounds like it is somewhat common. I may try a different addative and see if that makes any difference. 11 below this morning when I hit the road....why do I live here? LMAO!
