Alright so i have a 96 psd it has 3in dp 5 in straight pipe cold air and edge evolution. lately it feels like im losing power. it wouldnt go over 85 today and pulling my buddys pick up home (2002 crew cab psd on 38s.) prolly about 9k i only pushed 14 pounds of boost pulling a big hill.. before i was getting almost 20.. also im getting to cps code. p0344. i replaced my sensor not that long ago.. but any suggestions? my buddys 96 will push 24-27 lbs. and im not liking topping out at 85 on a flat road.. PLEASE HELP!!
Unplug the elec. connection to the map sensor and drive it. If its better its bad or the hose is clogged/cracked. Check all connections for boost leaks.
CPS code, check the wiring to the cps for chafing and make sure you have a good spare with you.
Wanting to drive 85+ with 9k behind you on a trailer isn't real smart imo. Safety should ALWAYS be taken into concideration FIRST..
Where did yo get the CPS you just replaced. If you answer anything other than Ford or International, go get another one (from Ford or International). The ones you get at the parts stores are JUNK!
wheres the map sensor? can u show me pics? and i wasnt pulling when i wanted to go over 85 that was way later in the day on the highway with no traffic. our ford dealer here is insane on prices. is there any other option?
as for the the 140w mod. i want to do just to scared to soder. But guys on here have done it and alot say there is a better throttle response and smoother idle. the 140w is like the SDs have. Just makes the injectors fire better.
In my opinion its worth doing for something to do when your bored. You wont see an amazing improvement just little things.
You need to check your fuel pressure to determine whether you need the FPR shimmed. On the driver side of the fuel bowl there is a little black cap (it looks like a valve stem cap for a tire). Remove that cap and test the fuel pressure with a cheap stick style tire gauge. You're looking for 60-70 PSI at idle. Below that, and you could benefit from shimming the FPR.
As far as the 140V IDM, it is a marginal gain. It's not like "Oh wow, I wish I had done this a long time ago". It is a more subtle difference The idle seems smoother and the throttle response is a little snappier, but it doesn't make a huge performance gain. If I had it to do over again, I would probably do it, but it wouldn't be at the top of my list. It's just not a huge difference.
