Radio Placement

360F-100,I bought a Highliner Headliner that has a place for radio-CD player in the headliner,I am in a really dusty area and it helps to keep the head unit cleaner being it is up higher.I put a small Cobra CB Radio where the stock radio was,I think I have pics of it in my gallery in the yellow 71.

I seen that and i wasnt to sure about it. Just seems like a PITA when you wanna change the station or something. How does it sound? I kindda always thought it would sound like a speaker in a trash can. Thank you for your tip. If you could get some pics up of it i would apreciate it.
I was manily looking for people that have used the stock location.

get a volvo stereo mount and flip it upside down. No cutting is required. Just bend the mounting tabs back and your done. Ill see if i can dig up a part number.

I think I'm gonna try that. If all else fails I'm gonna take it to a stereo shop and have them figure it out. LOL

im pretty sure this is what i used. Just cut out those little plastic inserts like it says in the instructions, flip it upside down and install your stereo.

I had the same issue with my '67. I can't recall what bracket I used, but somehow I was able to install a slide mount secure enough to allow that same basic radio into the stock slot and using that same bezel you show I was able to cover it up nicely.

Unfortunately that truck got scrapped a couple years ago so no new pics available. I'll see if I can find any old pics.

Lurker here...but with something to actually contribute:
The kit is Metra 99-9222 for 75-93 Volvos. Use the rectangular piece, turned upside down so the thicker part is on the bottom (so the radio's face is perpendicular to the ground rather than tilted back with the dash).
Now, back to lurking....
Oh, yeah, forgot to add that you'll have to bend the original metal volume and tuning **** tabs of the dash back to fit the DIN unit in. The, a self tapping screw is screwed into each tab to stabilize the sides of the DIN holder. Some aren't so fond of this severe a modification to their dash....
