Last night, I got a call for an emergency run to Green Valley, AZ using my pickup (e99, F350, 7.3l). The temperature was 1 degree and the truck had not been driven in a week or so. I was in a hurry, so I did a quick glow plug run of maybe 30 seconds. Fired-up fine (gotta love 5-40 syn) and I left. Pulling out of my driveway there is a hill and I got on the truck a wee bit while the engine was dead cold still and it through the "Service Engine Soon" light and began to run weak. I drove it about 10 miles hoping that it would get better, but it didn't. Called my company and gave up my run (losing $1000 ). Drove back home and parked. I thought it was an injector problem on one cylinder and let the truck sit overnight. Took my AE out this morning and started the truck and let it warm up for 30 minutes, recorded codes, and then cleared them. Then did a KOEO test and got the following codes:
P0605
P0640
P1277 Cylinder 7 High to Low Side Open
That P1277 then made me do a buzz test. Cylinder 7 silent!
So I am thinking the problem lies in the UVCH on the passenger side, cylinder 7. Before I tear into it, I just want to check with the more experienced that they diagnose this as I do. What do you folks think?
Alright, pulled the valve cover and did the 50 cent mod to passenger side (about time you say ). Redid the buzz test and now cylinder 7 buzzes . I guess the next step is to ohm out the UVCH connection, correct?

Did you take it for a ride to see if all is well now?

Did you run the CCT test?
Rick, I started it and it purrs...Have not run any tests other than a buzz test after I reseated the UVCH connection. Can't find my DMM (so I can't ohm out the connection), so I am going to button it up. What do you think? Should I run a CCT before I button her down?
Everything seems to be back to normal...passes all tests. Anyone have any links to reading about Injection Control Pressure readings (both pressure and duty cycle)?

Cool deal Neal. Is there something in particular you are asking about with the ICP?

Thanks Rick! Well believe it or not, the truck has never given me any kind of problem in all the time I have owned it. I bought the AE because I live in the back country and it is a long way to anywhere to have someone diagnose or fix a problem (and I love to fix everything thing I can fix myself). So anyway, the AE paid for itself the last couple of days. When I took it for a test ride I watched pressure and duty-cycle and it made me think about "what's normal"? Thus, the question about reading material...
