IDM again??
Well, after installation, it seems my problem was solved. It ran great...for about a week. Then I went out to warm it up about 2 weeks ago during a cold spell and it ran for about 5 minutes and I noticed the idle getting rougher and rougher until it finally died. Will not restart...
So today, I had a mechanic friend come over with a scanner and check it out. He cranked it several times and got it started, but it was definitely running poorly, but was not throwing any codes (after he cleared the original codes)
Then he ran through several self tests, one of which being the cylinder contribution test that may have shed some light on the problem. Several codes were activated after that test...
P0263 Cylinder 1
P0269 Cylinder 3
P0275 Cylinder 5
P0281 Cylinder 7
P0344 Cam Position Sensor
P1316 IDM
The thing that sticks out is I basically lost fuel delivery to a bank of cylinders. Is this most likely a symptom of the IDM, the PCM or something else?
The mechanic discounted the CPS code due to the shaking of the engine could have confused that sensor. Maybe not?
Just looking for another opinion on this. I am thinking I probably need another IDM. The mechanics I know are no help on diesels.
Thanks,
Scott
