I've got a cc long bed f350 burgundy in color. I'm planning to put a toolbox on the truck just trying to decide if i should go with the black aluminum diamond tread or the silver aluminum diamond tread?
Thanks in advance for your opinions, Donovan
If you go black, get a Weatherguard. Every other brand of box I've seen in black has peeled eventaually, which defeats the purpose of buying it in black. Weatherguard puts a 2nd clear coat layer on their boxes, it seems to help the black coating last without peeling. Plus IMO it's a better build box, with significantly better locks and replaceable parts (gas lifts, lid strikers). I've had my current box since 2008 and it looks almost brand new still; no sagging lid, the locks don't stick, no weird dents from stuff floating around inside of it.
If you ever have/plan on adding any accessories, match it to that. I have a black front end and a black headache rack, so I wish I had a black toolbox to match it. If you want to add chrome steps or a chrome brush guard, go with the brite-finish. If you don't have and won't add anything, brite-finish always looks good with any color and stands out more than a black one would.
