Thanks to the moderator I have learned some things to hopefully help me get some answers form the guys who know. I have a 1977 Ford F150 Ranger XLT and I just put a new (mid-ship) side mount gas tank on it today. I have a question about the selector switch. It has been disconnected for some time and I can't remember how to connect the tanks. I have attached some photos that may help. The switch has three ports, two on one end and one on the other. How does the switch work? I'm installing new gas lines today but not sure how to do it.
Any help would be appreciated. Link to photos at Picasa https://picasaweb.google.com/1082152...eat=directlink
Thanks Jon! That's what I needed. The selector just did not look right with both on one side and the other to the tank as I felt the selector was a plunger and would have to let the fuel in from either side. Your help is appreciated. I really want a 4X4 and would like to move my body to a 4X4 frame but it is all original and I think it best to leave well enough alone! Thanks again.
Rick
Jon, The diagram "Old Style" sent is exactly how my tanks are set up. The diagram looks to show one side to each tank and the side with two openings (one to the midship tank and one to the pump) The side with one opening to the Aftaxel tank. This looks to me the most logical way to hook them up.
His diagram is probably correct. I have a 78 and the way I said is the way mine is set up but it probably is different for yours because yours is older.
