I have an 1988 F-150 and I believe the fuel selector switch for the tanks needs replaced. All they sell is a "universal" type at the auto stores and they require wiring in. Is an OEM type available other than from Ford? Can you just bypass one tank altogether? Thanks for your help guys!

Not sure but he's probably talking about the DFR(Dual Function Reservoir) that is under the truck and not the actual selector switch. And the answer to his question is "NO", there are no aftermarket one of that type. All the aftermarket ones require electricity to operate.
Yes, I am talking about the part that is mounted on the frame rail and has 6 fuel lines in it. I have only heard it referrred to as a switch but that may be wrong. Can you simply bypass this valve/switch and hook lines just to one tank? I think the diaphram has gone bad in it best I can tell. Thanks guys for your help
Yes, all this does is use pump pressure to select the tank and return fuel. Make sure you properly cap off the tank not in use. What is the DFR doing, leaking externally?
Best I can tell from what I am experiencing and what others have said it is drawing fuel from both tanks. On start up about half the time it starts fine, the other times takes forever to start and I smell gasoline. Also I think one tank is filling the other as it's level keeps rising without putting in gas. Thanks for the help
