That is mostly what it is, a high powered diagnostic tool. If you can't figure it out with an AE...more than like Ford won't be able to either with IDS. I think you can adjust your speedometer for different tire sizes...but don't quote me on that one since I've never needed to adjust my tire size.

I'm not convinced I can't find it with AE but I don't personally have one... And the only person near me is about 3 hrs away... That I know of so IDS is probably more practical taking into account fuel and time ya know. Right now I don't have the cash to buy both AE and an injector

IDS is what Ford Dealerships use...I'm not sure you could even buy one. Though I guess anything is possible being in the right spot at the right time with cash in hand. Maybe one of the techs that use IDS on a daily bases at work and has used an AE can chime in as far as if one is better than the other. I can only speak for AE, never touched IDS.

Like I said in another thread, let me get home this weekend and plug my AE into the truck and I'll try to pass along my notes of what I've got.

I think we've got our thoughts crossed here. Personaly speaking, AE is a better bargain. Yes, IDS is what Ford uses...but your more than likely going to have to pay your dealership $100 to $275...depending on dealership to diagnose the truck. It only took once for me ($275) to realize I could come ahead with an AE. What is your local dealership going to charge you to diagnose the truck? That's the question that your going to have to ask yourself before you know which is a better bargain.

I too would love to see a detailed tutorial on how to use the AE. I bumble my way through it, have managed to get the truck fixed so far, but I'm a long way from understanding it. And the operators manual that comes with it isn't much help - it seems the AE guys are assuming I'm smarter than I really am.
