I'm trying to use AE to find my problem cylinder on an '05 F250 6.0. The issue I'm having is that the AE power balance graph disappears around 1000rpm or above. I am familiar with the Ford WDS, and how the power balance should look. The WDS will display the graph no matter what the RPM is. I was hoping AE could replace my old dinosaur WDS but I feel it might not be as advanced as I thought. I have a miss under load around 1800-2000rpm, and there is no way that I can see it using AE. No codes. Am I doing something wrong? I'm still learning and practicing with the AE software. Thanks for any input
Well I emailed AE this morning and am awaiting reply. I also mentioned how I very frequently get an error message when trying to use the activations menu after installing the new 10.0 version with the security dongle. Anyone else experience this? I hope there is some kind of resolution for the power balance because it's a pretty useless feature if it only reads at around idle speeds. Usually when you have a miss that bad it throws a code anyway. I'll keep this post updated
I wouldn't say AE is useless; but at the same time your no the first person to say they have a stumble about 1800-2000rpm and can't figure it out with AE. I've tried doing a balance/contribution test with the high idle on (1200rpm) in my truck...thinking a steady throttle will keep the graph in place. The graph disappears within seconds of the engine idling up. If AutoEnginuity has a solution to this, I'm all ears...especially for future reference. I will say all of my injector issues have be rather simple to find...a code is stored, a KOER will find it or contribution/balance test will point it out.

I would say you've been pretty lucky with injector issues then. Most 7.3's and 6.0's with a weak injector that I have seen have a miss under load, most noticeable at highway speeds, converter locked, and easing on the throttle. I found my problem injector using my old WDS while driving. Just a shame that the AE couldn't find it.
And by no means am I calling the AE program useless, I actually really like it for the price. But I will call the power balance pretty useless if it can only display at idle. Even on my 5.4's and 6.8's I have to put them in gear and rev up to see a problem cylinder in power balance. Hopefully I hear from them soon...
