I have a 1987 F250 Diesel that is 100% except that the cruise control doesn't work anymore. I"ve looked into this in the past and havn't had any luck fixing it yet. Today I checked again into the vacuum issue. I pulled the vacuum line that goes into the round whatever on the drivers side fender wall and it had good vacuum. Then one by one I"ve pulled the other lines off but never got any vacuum from any of the other hoses or fittings on the round thing, selnoid maybe? I got into the truck and turned on the CC by pushing the button on the steering wheel but notything changed. Still nothing from any of the other vacuum lines or fittings. Could the round thing be releasing the vacuum? I don't think that would be happening because that would affect the brakes and they work fine.
there is a vacuum dump valve above the brake pedal. When the brake is pressed the vacuum is dumped out of the cruise unit. The switch is adjustable, it sits in a spring clip so with the brake pedal up just push the switch down until the plunger of it is pushed up into the switch.
My truck is a 1987 F250 with a 6.9 Diesel and a C6 automatic. I replaced the brake switch a few years ago and don't remember there being another switch on the brake pedal. I"ll look again in the morning to see if there is another switch on the pedal.
