X2 on that, although there is some lengthy discussion on whether it is disastrous if the washer does drop. I myself, pulled it, this was almost as much for the learning process as it was my scared little a$$ dropping the washer. All in all it was not that bad, and yes, Cody's write-up was not overly technical, and really made the job and the steps easier to follow for a non-technical person. Lookin good Mike!
George, The bolt will not fall in but the washer 'migh't. To close to tell. I'm not that good at 'feeling around', I would rather see what I'm doing, when possible.
So, you pull the whole reservoir when you change the pump, Glenn?
Sounds like Glenn did it like I did. Wanted to see what was going on. There's 6 or 8 bolts on top of reservoir. Undo the EBP sensor and it just lifts off. Makes it nice to see the HPOP gear, bolt and washer.

Yes, I pull the res. I use a miti vac to get the oil out and there are five bolts on top of the res. Unplug the EBP on top, unhook the EBP pipe under the EBP. Before I unscrew the nut I put a zip tie on the pipe just befow the nut so the darn nut doesn't slid down where its hard to get. Then there is a plug on the back of the res, I can't right now remember what sensor it is, maybe EOT? Sounds llike a lot of work but its not, I just like to see what I'm doing with the washer and nut. Get after it George, LOL.
Yea, I think I could do the job in 1.2 the time now, just the confidence of knowing that it really isn't that bad; i'd probably do it w/o pulling the Res next time.
Just don't over tighten the HPOP lines. I cracked the inner flange on one and left a oil trail from downtown to home. I just got back from the machine shop where they made me another one, $50.
