Sensor for Parking brake?

Now that it is winter I start the truck in the I let it sit and warm up at idle. The only problem that I am having is the truck will not idle up unless the parking Brake is set and the parking brake light is on. Well it seems that the parking brake light only comes on sometimes when I set the brake. Does anyone know where the sensor/switch is that makes this light come on? If the switch/sensor is bad I may just bypass it and put it on a manual switch to make the light come on.

The switch is located near the edge of the dash near the one rubber bumper for the parking brake pedal. Its a simple old school door switch that grounds out when you apply the brake. They usually corrode or rust, so cleaning it will help, or just bypassing it like you mentioned.

Cleaning the contact usually does the trick. All you need is a 7mm nut driver and it comes right out. I use a little jewelers file to clean the washer and top of the blade contacts.
