My check engine light came on the other day. I have 84800 miles. If it is the reductant pump does anybody if this would be covered under warranty? This would be an emissions part and how long does that warranty last. Also, How much roughly would it cost if I had to pay out of pocket? Thanks, Jason
I think it's a bit premature to declare this as a DEF issue without knowing the code. The emissions warranty doesn't go beyond 80,000 miles IIRC, so that wouldn't help you in this case. None of the components listed in the warranty guide have anything to do with the DEF system so I don't think that would help you either, but the dealer would know better as the information is in their system by part number.
So at this point hope for something wrong with the engine itself.
Got my truck back just now. Diagnostic codes P202D reductant leak and code P20E8 reductant pressure too low. Replaced reductant pump, in other words the DEF pump was not working properly. Only 14 miles since the repair but no CEL. They also told me that the turbo howl was nothing outside the normal.
Got my DEF pump replaced today and drove 20 miles or so and no CEL!!! I was talking with the service managers and this is only the second one they've put in. Not sure if that's good for me or not.
Just got my second CEL at 8200 k...5 hour drive to the dealer again. First light was at 4000k for a faulty air mass sensor and loose vaccum hose...sighh
