I got the dreaded CEL at 20,500 miles. Took it to the dealer early friday morning and after an hour they tell me that it will probably take some time because they hadn't had a problem with the DEF system before, so I'm taking it back to them on tuesday to leave it and they are going to give me a loaner. I was told that the code being displayed had something to do with the DEF system. They did ask me if I had ran out of DEF an my answer was "No, but I did get an 800 miles till empty message but that was over a year ago". We shall see.
I got a CEL light on Thursday night. Took to the dealer on Friday. They said it is the NOx sensor. They didn't have a new sensor in stock so they ordered one. I am supposed to bring the truck in again on Monday to have it replaced and the system reset. They say that they haven't seen this go out before. I have 23,000 miles.
Just kidding Tom. Unless you really do have the power to hand out CEL's???
Now I gotta search for that thread about holding down some button while you turn the key while sitting side saddle and rubbing your head and patting your tummy, or something like that, to see what the fault is.

Went to the dealership today and had the CEL checked out. NOX sensor for me too. Goes in next Tuesday.
Spent some time visiting with the service mgr about the HPFP and cracking/breaking valves. Said he hasn't seen anything yet about either one. He seemed pretty surprised when I told him about FOMOCO's decision not to honor warranty. Anyway, bought some more fuel and air filters and PM-22. I keep em in the back floor for emergency.
You guys that are going in for NOX sensors should at least read this. I had P164A and a new sensor did nothing to fix it, waste of time. Hope this one is solved by now ........
The dealer now has my truck. Mechanic hasn't dealt with any DEF system problems before. After checking all his flow charts and consulting with FORD they came to a conclusion that the DEF pump is the problem. Pump will be here tomorrow. I called them back and said "since you are keeping the truck overnight, start it first thing in the morning and listen to the turbo howl and let me know if that's a problem or just normal stuff". We shall see.
Got my truck back just now. Diagnostic codes P202D reductant leak and code P20E8 reductant pressure too low. Replaced reductant pump, in other words the DEF pump was not working properly. Only 14 miles since the repair but no CEL. They also told me that the turbo howl was nothing outside the normal.

Huh...interesting. Just over a year ago my truck had a P20E8 code at around 400 MTE on DEF. They checked out the system, tested for flow, filled 'er up, and blamed the low fluid level on the code. Never made much sense to me, but perhaps the DEF pump was having problems.

I have the same code and am waiting for a DEF pump to arrive. I hope that's all it is.
Well....got the CEL light yesterday...(had it last winter). The weather has been crazy warm for January up here. Going to the dealer today to check it out.
My check engine light came on the other day. I have 84800 miles. If it is the reductant pump does anybody if this would be covered under warranty? This would be an emissions part and how long does that warranty last. Also, How much roughly would it cost if I had to pay out of pocket? Thanks, Jason
