My 99 Super Duty has seen a lot of duty on gravel roads over the years. The head light lens are pitted, scratched dulled from sand blasting. They are so dim I run on High Beam....and I can still hardly see down the road on a dark night. Heaven help on a rainy night! It is like driving through a tunnel w/no lights on! The lights are so dim that other cars never flash lights to me know I am too bright. I checked on what it would cost for new head light assemblies and was astounded at the price....nearly $500 a set! Any one know of a place that sells lenses at reasonable prices?....or....anyone out there experimented with installing more expensive bulbs that are bright enough to overcome the poor light transmission through marred lenses? Help.
I have read in other threads that you can install the 05+ lights without changing the header or the grill. You will have to cut your header to accomodate the lights, though. I put in ebay after market lights in mine and had to cut the header also. No big deal.
I have an 04 too and was thinking about getting some 05up headlights. Does changing to the 05up headlights with the new style H13 bulb add any dangerous amp draw to the stock wiring?
I also read somewhere that there are two screws and clips you have to buy for the 05up lights that the 04 trucks dont have. Anyone have any input on that? Part numbers?
I have an '03 F250 and want to change the headlights also. I do like the '05 style and have tried to find a "how to" but haven't found the one that makes me sure I can do it. Does anybody have the complete info? The ebay link said cutting of header but what about the grill? Thanks for all the help. This site is the first place I go to when I first get home and get online.
