Head Lights
Head Lights
I have a 1977 F-250 with the round head lights. I was wondering if there were any other headlights that I can use that are brighter than the stock ones. Do they make round halogen lights? If I switched to a diffenrent light, do I have to do some new or different wiring? Don't really want to covert to a square head light since I like the look of my truck as is.
Thanks, Dett

see the tech article about brighter lights........works great and easy to do
you can get round headlights from JCW and others that will hold H-4 halogen bulbs and you can get those as bright as you want (off-road only they say)
I would recomment that you add relays if you are going to change to H-4's as they draw a bit more current
btw, check your dimmer switch as that can be part of your problem when the contacts become corroded

LMC has a replacement headlight with a seperate halogen bulb. It,s the brightest legal light for your truck and looks like the original light. Coast 49.95. Go to www.lmctruck.com.
In the "readily available" category, I'd say go for Hella 7" round European code H4 headlights. Be sure to include a pair of fused Hella relays and some heavy wiring in your plan. That will have the added benefit of taking the load off of our factory headlight switch, dimmer switch, and wiring.
In the "best" category, get Cibie 7" round European code lamps. Try Daniel Stern Lighting, at http://www.danielsternlighting.com both for the lights and for a LOT of useful no-BS information on lighting.
