My vehicle has recently developed a problem; often during cold start it will fire but die prior to a full start. I have to reengage the starter to get it it to fire and run. Maybe my FPDM is failing. How do I check? I have torque pro so I can read fuel rail relative pressure. What should it read when the key is on but prior to cranking? TIA
dont jump in on a 6 year old post... Start your own.
The fuel rail should have 30 psi or so after it sets.. If you have a bad check valve, the fuel will run back into the tank and rail will have no pressure.. Then when you crank, you get a momentary start, then die.. Check the rail pressure to verify.. Turn the key ON ( 3 seconds)- OFF- ON ( 3 seconds) a couple times, but do not START.. Pump should build up pressure in the rail and start easier.. See how long it takes to bleed off.
