Electrical problem...won't start

Hey everyone...I have a 2000 Excursion 7.3 4WD. Last evening, I stopped and when I went to take off the throttle would go down, but the truck remained on idle. I was only a couple of blocks away, so I "idled" home. When I turned off and tried to restart, only the BATTERY light and blinking THEFT light - no WAIT TO START, etc. Truck turns over just fine, will not start. New batteries. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

I'd check your fuel pump, make sure it's sending fuel. Engines need fuel, spark, and compression to run. Being diesel, you just need fuel and compression. Compression is less likely to be an issue on every cylinder, so I'd check fuel.

Generally you can check fuel pump by having someone put their head by it, and putting the truck in the on position, you can hear it going. If that's going, check fuel filters. Also a good time to check for oil in coolant and vice versa. Let me know how you end up after that.
