He answered your question Trey. You specifically asked about diesels.

By the nature of your question, his answer was specific.

I saw an F450, 7.3l service truck at a gold mine last week which had an interesting setup. They installed a cooler up on the headache rack (full exposure to air) with a set of dual fans. May have been just the transmission cooler though. It looked to be the same size as the units you see mounted behind the sleeper on some class 8 trucks.

They do work. They have been used for YEARS in the automotive industry as cooling fans. Saying "They dont work" is BS quite frankly. A much more appropriate response would be "they dont work sufficiently for our application."

Oh for *** sakes...

I'm sorry, I thought this was the DIESEL TRUCK SECTION...

I am sure if you scroll down a few sub forums you can find a honda accord or a caravan forum where electric fans are all the rage.

I bet it was some kind of hydraulic cooler or something like that. Would work fine for that, same thing with the add on tranny coolers some run with a fan...

I'm gonna guess it was connected to an air compressor or some sort of accessory not related to the truck. That's what it has been when I've seen them like that.
