my garage door opener had a short piece of stranded wire dangling out that was supposedly the antenna, so I put a longer piece of rigid wire on it and the remote operates from WAYYYY farther down the road, so I thought if we knew where the remote starter receiver was, we could do something similar to increase the range despite what the service advisors tell us. Maybe, maybe not.
Anybody found the remote starter receiver and does it have an antenna on it that one might be able to patch into with a bigger/longer one?

If you can find the antenna, just attach it to a piece of metal and make the whole truck a antenna.

If you are willing to pay about $10/month, you can start your truck from anywhere in the world.....

GSM REMOTE CONTROL SWITCH | CELL PHONE REMOTE CONTROL

my service manager says the receiver is in the rear view mirror assembly and is hard wired so not much chance of finding a port to plug a bigger antenna into apparently.

If this is indeed the case, a little mirror disassembly and soldering skill should easily facilitate a larger antenna. I'll see how good the reception is on my new truck when I take delivery. Perhaps it could be my first mod?

{{{{{{{{PROBLEM SOLVED}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} ...
Would you believe that when I heard the remote start receiver was in the rear view mirror, I thought maybe---just maybe my clear plastic parking pass with gold number decals hanging on the cable behind the mirror might be screwing things up? So I take off the parking pass and now it starts from inside the building just fine. Arghhhhhhhhhhh.
So after all this fine discussion, moral is don't hang any junk on your mirror with even he slightest amount of metal in it, or it may f-up your remote starter range! Who woulda thunk it?? :-(

Glad you found your problem. Here in MI it's against the law to hang thing from your rear view mirror, not that it is enforced, but still. Just like those damn handicap signs that say right on them at the bottom on both sides, do not drive with this on the mirror.
