A friend just called me that has a 02 7.3 truck and said when he levels off his speed around 40 that his truck feels like its surging. Almost as if it was not getting fuel. He changed his air and fuel filter and still no change. At first I thought it maybe the UVCH but I have not ridden in the truck to experience the problem. What else may it be so I can let him know. He said he did not want to take it to a dealer and risk the loss of a limb. I told him that I knew who might know!!! Thanks and any help is appreciated.
Could be a dead spot in the pedal assembly or any one of a number of things. Have to run AE or something of the likes to see what's going on. I've been dealing with a similar issue, but mine occurred at different speeds with light pedal. Mine would die repeatedly also.
Have him disconnect the connector on the ICP sensor. That will help to either rule in or rule out a bad ICP sensor. While he has it disconnected he should check for oil leak through the sensor.
Also have him check the IPR solenod nut. It should be snug but not over tightened.
Using cruise control can rule in or rule out the TPS.
It could be almost anything, the only way to know for sure is to hook it up to AE. For all anyone knows the screens in his tank is filling up with gunk or half a million other reasons
