Hey Ya'll,
Finally found my dream truck and have a question? The truck is a 78 F150 4x4 with 300 six and manual granny low 4 speed and has no air conditioning. Does anyone have a picture of the radiator? The one in the truck seems really small and has no shroud. Could this be original to the truck? I drove it about 50 miles bringing it home and it ran cool all the way but, I'm not sure how it will do this summer.
You just described my truck to "T". I have a '79 F150 300 six, four speed with creeper gear, 4x4 with no A/C. My radiator is also small and has no fan shroud. I know my truck was all factory stock. When it was 110 degrees this past summer, I pulled a car trailer with a big block Nova and my truck never heated up a degree past where it did last winter. You'll be fine.
That's great! I looked a long time before I finally found one! I would still like to see a picture of an original radiator just to see how mine compares. Thanks for the reply!
Regards, Joel
Yes, these trucks ARE hard to find. I had to build mine. I found the truck I wanted, but it was only an F100 2wd. A friend had an F150 4x4 chassis, so I swapped bodies onto the 4wd frame.
I just discovered trying to take a picture of the radiator in the truck isn't easy. The plastic jug next to the radiator is an aftermarket coolant recovery bottle. Here ya' go....
Thanks so much for the pictures! Mine is still smaller than the one in the picture and it bolts directly to the front grill support, I can't remember what it's called but it's the frame work that ties the front fenders together.
