Replacing power steering fluid

Has anyone in here flushed out the power steering pump and replaced the fluid on thier Expy? I want to do mine, and was wondering if anyone has an easy way to do it. I can always siphon out the old fluid and replace with new, but if I can flush the whole system and replace all the fluid I would rather do that!

Arrow Replacing power steering fluid

You can just pump out some old fluid through the top, and then top it off with the new stuff, drive a for days, repeat. That's the easy way. I remember hearing about a technique where you disconnect the return hose from the reservoir and put it in an oil drainpan. Then, you pull the fuel pump relay, but leave the battery connected. You then have someone crank the engine, a little bit at a time, while you pour the new fluid in the reservoir. This will circulate and a pump the oil fluid out. Oh yeah - I think they said that you have to cover up the return hose hole in the reservoir.

Good luck!

Replacing power steering fluid

Hey all, Removed the return hose and plugged hole in bottom of res. Then put hose into suitable container and started vehicle. I then added fluid as it left resesvoir and stopped when it was clear. I then replaced line and refilled with fluid. There is a noticable diffrence in sound and steering feel. I also did the transmission fluid and filter. My B&M shift plus should be here this week. It is the electronic kit that runs off the ECM. I'll let you know how it works when installed! Thanks for the info.

Bryan,

How easy was it to do the transmission fluid and filter and what procedure did you use.
