Ok so in thinking about the safety factor...I wonder if there are aftermarket lights that would have the option to flash? Say maybe have them hooked up to the flashers or something?
I looked at the videos and I am not impressed with those lights...the flashing almost looks like a Christmas tree light. With lights there is always the risk of drunk drivers running into you and I think these lights would not help deter that. They are almost too much.
Sorry 720deere if you have them and I offended you
Believe me, no offense taken or intended. You were looking for conversation and I provided it. Your statement started as a "help me understand" and ended with a strong statement of your dislike. Why exactly would one try to help somebody understand something that they have stated that they don't like?
Yes the last 3 trucks I have owned had the clearance lights, but I have nothing against people that don't have them or don't like them. You won't see the "big rig" lights under the door on my truck, but I'm fine with those that do like them. Personalization is one of the greatest parts of owning one of these trucks!

I didn't even think about the aspect of telling people how wide your vehicle is..I don't have anything against people that have them either I was just trying to understand why they are there I guess. Maybe I worded it wrong. I appreciate the answers though.
With them being called roof clearance lights I thought how would you know if you have cleared the height requirement until the lights have been knocked off your truck...lol
I have them for two reasons, one I think they look "Super Duty" and second for a safety reason that has not been addressed here. We have a country place that we frequent quite often. It has three miles of gravel road after you leave the highway with numerous small hills and curves. You can see trucks with clearance lights coming over these small hills for quite a distance before you see the headlights and the same on some curves. The lights give the approaching drivers a heads up so they can slow down and get ready for the approaching vehicle.
