well.... in the world of modifications anything can be done with enough skill and money!
BUT! it will not be easy. and i would say no you can not just put 65-66 cab mounts on a 61-64 cab and make it work,
IT would be easier to move the frame cab supports from a 61-64 to a 65-66 frame and do a cab swap that way... But! i have never done this and you need to do all the measuring to figure out if it would even work.
It can be done but the fabrication required to make it work is not worth the effort.
The front floor pan is an entirely different shape as the later pan provided more leg room.
Also there are issues on column and dash modifications needed to mount the later column in the early cab.
Garbz
Hey Garbz, what about BillW's idea of moving the 64 frame mounts to the 65 frame....would that work? I'm just curious.
Personally, if someone wants to have independent front suspension, there are better choices than the 65 twin-i-beam and The 64 frame is much easier to modify. Just a thought....

I have done this swap on a 78 TS F150 Long Bed frame. I mounted a 66 4x4 crew cab to this frame buy building custom new front frame cab mounts. The original mounts may be used but i did not like the way they looked or fit. There is also the swayback look to the later frame as there will be a large gap.
I also modified the lower dash and firewall to accept the 65 66 pedal and steering column. I have done dash conversions on three trucks so far all with good results to mount later columns.

It is a lot of work to get everything together.

Yes, Garbz, I've seen this swap too (65/66 bodies to 73-79 chassis),and I don't like the looks of it either. But I was curious about what BillW said about swapping the 64 body/frame mounts to the 65 frame and if that would allow the OP to mount his 64 cab onto the 65 frame. Again, I have no personal interest in swapping a frame but since the OP brought it up and BillW offered a potential alternative I figured you'd definitely know whether or not it's doable. I guess the real question I'm asking is how much is the 61-64 frame like the 65/66 frame except for the twin-i-beam suspension & different body mounts? Is the frame length & width basically the same?
The front rails from the bumper to the rear cab mounts differ in depth and profile. 65 up verses 61 to 64.
The 65 front frame profile is the same as a 79. From the rear cab mounts to the front bumper they are almost identical.
The same procedure i used on the 78 frame will be required on the 65 frame.
The 61 to 64 cab will bolt to the stock 65 to 72 rear frame cab mounts.
The 61 to 64 and 65 66 and 67 to 72 frames are the same width. 73 to 79 frames are the same width to just aft of the rear cab mounts where the frame was widened to accept a better clearance mid mount and rear fuel tank.

Not all 1973/79 F100/350's have the 37 1/2" rear frame rail width.
33 1/2" rear frame rail width: 1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys) and 1973/79 F350's on the 140" wheelbase.
ok i have a 65 a barn fell on i took the cab off cause it was crushed. i have a 61-64 cab. if i move the perches off of the frame to the location of the 61-64 i feel that it will work. besides the steering colum. please inform me if i am on the right path. i got the cab for 100.00 and its rough but has a top. lol
Look at the albums below, The same steering column, dash and firewall modifications will be required to make the early cab work with the later steering box.
