Cant Control Heater Temp
If you turn it towards cool and do so one click at a time and get to the 3 o’clock position then go one more click CCW it goes from very hot to cool.
No Hot, warm, cool, cold control as with other vehicles?
I hear the mix door moving. Coolant is full. Truck has 47K on the clock. Warranty’s up in two weeks. Is this normal op mode for these trucks or would you say there’s a problem?
I’m certainly not happy with constantly having to adjust it.
In short, when they go crazy, they cannot self calibrate themselves and vary from non-functioning to erratic operation.
Ditch the electronic crap and give me a cable!

>Some 2008-2009 F-Super Duty vehicles with a build date before 11/06/08, and equipped with DATC (Dual Automatic Temperature Control) may exhibit a side-to-side temperature difference greater than 15 degrees Fahrenheit (8.3 degrees Celsius). A temperature difference of less than 15 degrees Fahrenheit (8.3 degrees Celsius) would be considered normal and no repair attempt should be made. Also, it is not necessary to replace the EATC control head or the HVAC. <o

>If equipped with manual climate control, vehicles may exhibit periods where the cabin temperature cannot be maintained with the control ****. Some customers may also complain the heat cannot be reduced without rotating the control **** well into the Cool/Blue range.<o

>DATC systems may be monitored with the IDS PID ($9910 and $9911 ). Manual A/C systems may be observed through the right side of the instrument panel with the glove compartment door positioned downward. <o

>Erratic PID activity or an actuator that appears to be erratically hunting for correct position during the condition should be replaced. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 412-01, for removal and installation details. <o
></o
>The ignition key must be off when replacing the actuator, energizing the actuator before installation on the HVAC case will cause the part to become mis-positioned and correct orientation will be lost. Incorrect actuator operation may result.

The TSB states you’re supposed to be able to visually see it actuate from the glove box opening. I very briefly looked tonight and I can see it but cannot see it actuate. For $33 bucks I’ll just replace it. I’ll follow up and let you all know if it solves the problem.
