Road Tool kit
I am new to the Super Duty and the 7.3L diesel engines. I recently bought a 1999 F-350 SRW and want to assemble a good tool kit to take with me. I am going to be away from home for 3 months at a time so i will need to know what specialty tools i should include with my regular tool kit. Do any of you super duty vets have any suggestions?

The best tool you can have with you is Autouenginuity (AE) with the Enhanced Ford package ($360 at Riffraff Diesel) It will allow you to troubleshoot any issues that may come up. If you don't want to go that route, you can always pick up an Aeroforce Scan Gauge . It will pull codes and can also run live data and a few tests. These are what is important in determining what is going on with the powertrain and emissions systems.
Mechanical tools are pretty basic. Just make sure you have some wrenches over 1" as some of the items are on the bigger size.
Having an HPOP line disconnect tool is a good idea also.

Even if you bring the kitchen sink you might not have the tool you need, I would say a good assortment of wrenches, some pliers and a cell phone. Good luck on your trip. ps I always carry a spare fuel filter
