yes cleaning the IAC probably will help...been suggested to clean it with WD40 rather than with carb cleaner...making sure the little plunger moves freely.
the other thing (if you haven't done so)...is to remove the entire throttle body housing off the upper intake. Reason being is to clean out the 2 interior ports, they tend to get carboned up pretty good affecting runnability. cleaning the throttle body butterfly too will be a plus too...regular carb cleaner works well here.
When was the last time the PCV was changed...now is a good time to do that as well....note, with throttle body housing off....look at the rubber elbow over on the firewall side for the PCV ( known area for vacuum leaks)
lastly get some MAF sensor cleaner and clean it (the MAF sensor) as well.
The above shouldn't take too much time, 2-3hrs being pretty leisurely about it.
i want to thank enriched&beyound for the great help with this issue it saved me alot of money even though i replaced the IAC and cleaned the throttle body. The truck runs great. Now all i need to fix is the four wheel drive i think i'm going to take some where to fix this issue i think its out of my league.thank you again. !!!!!!!
