You're right. I actually left the jack under the axle but brought it in the garage when I went on my socket hunt, I just didn't put it back right away. I did and always do shake the living hell out of the truck before I start work, just to make sure the stand and truck are set.

I used a Smart Car as a wheel chock.

Good choice on the Smart Car wheel chock Mike......I use them myself now.....with that pointy nose they work much better than the Mini Coopers I was using.

Is that a poly seal on the Napa premiums ? what did they run you ?......I think I jinxed myself.....or you did....I swear my RF wheel is leaning a bit....and I have started hearing a slight knock under the front.....gonna check the BJ this weekend.

Yeah they're poly. The ball joints look a lot nicer than most, gold cad plating and a polished stem (didn't want to say shaft, oops... just did) plus they're suppose to have beefier guts, to be purely scientific. Some boxes said Made in Taiwan but the guy brought one out that said Assembled in USA so I had him find another USA to match. I know all that means is assembled from foreign parts but hey, every little bit of USA helps.

They were a little more than the Moog from Advance Auto. The Napa premiums were, $84 for the lower and $54 for the upper. That's fine though, I don't mind spending a little more on ball joints.

That sucks if yours went out. How old are they? You said TRW right? What's the warranty? Did you grease up that large seal enough to re-use it if need be?

Mine are 5yrs and 70k miles old......not sure they are bad yet.....just hearing a clunk.....will check this weekend.....the warranty is lifetime....but I won't use them again if they are shot....but I will get the replacements for the shelf.....never know when I will need them. Yes should not have a problemgreased the new seals well last time.
