Hello, my brake pedal is spongy and very low, has no firmness at all, theres no air in the lines I've bled for ****s, has new pads and rotors aswell, slide pins greased
I put on a new powersteering pump and flushed the PS system
sounds like a failing master. push the pedal as far as you can to the floor and hold. See if it slowly sinks to the floor while you are putting constant pressure on it. Don't push as hard as you can, just regular brake pedal pressure. It will feel like it is slowly sinking from under your foot. At least one test for a master.
Could it really be though, I still have decent stopping power? I think im going to get me self bleeding tool out, put on a new master, and maybe flush 2 quarts out of the hydro system today, just gotta go pick up some ar 15 goodies first haha, stay tuned ill let you guys know how it turns out
What happened? Did you fix your issue? I have a similar issue.
My test of the hydroboost passed. With engine off,, pump brake pedal 4 times until hard, hold with light pressure. Start Engine, pedal will sink and then return.
Replaced the master cylinder. Same soft pedal. I can engage ABS with the pedal as it is, but it sure feels poor.
Toll so far, rotors, rebuilt calipers, pads, master cylinder. Lots of bleeding, running, not running, hand vacuum pump, old fashion pedal pumps, No change. At least I got rid of the lot rot on the rotors.
Only theories left. Bleed system again with ABS system enabled via computer. new stainless brake lines, Adjust push rod, (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...rake-feel.html) Replace hydroboost unit?, Power steering pump?
I had the same problem on an 03 F-350 dually after blowing a rear caliper apart. Bleed system several times and never could get a decent pedal, a really problem when pulling a 15000# 5'er with a boat behind it. Found out that if you get air up into the ABS you cannot bleed it out without a scan tool that is capable of opening the ABS solenoids. I had my dealer bleed them for $75.00 and what a difference it made.
new pump cleared up my brake and steering problems, truck only had about 100k miles.
However install a filter and flush the system if you replace the pump, mine had trash in the system and ruined the new pump and I got to replace the pump a second time
