A friend of mine has a Ford 8000 with a 3208 cat. It starts but has a lot of white smoke for a short period of time then clears up. Does the cat have return lines going from injector to injector like the internationals do? We don't know anything about the cat engine. Are there anything in specific that we need to know about the engine. He said he thinks it may need injectors. Would appreciate any feedback. Tony,
Tony,3208 does not have return lines from the injectors like navistar does. It does have a return line from the injection pump. As far as the white smoke when the engine is cold, this is pretty normal untill it warms up. I would say from what you posted that the injectors are fine. If you are in a cold area I would suggest a block heater, that would get eng. up to temp quicker and lessen the smoke. 3208 is a good little diesel, I have worked on lots of them back in the 80's&90's. Just keep an eye on the oil level, they do use oil, I've replaced a few that ran out of oil. Good luck.
Thanks Pops for your quick reply. I was wondering about the return lines. I'll let him know what you said. I didn't even check if it had a block heater on it. Btw. I am in central Kentucky. Thanks again. Tony,
