Since these trucks came out, and I was researching and saving up for one of these trucks, I've read about different reflashes that come out, mostly hearsay, but some for more power, fix tranny shifting issues, etc.
My question is this: after these motors came out, they might have an update or reflash for these trucks, but do they do that to the ones sitting on their lot, waiting to be sold???
I just bought a 2011 a week ago, and just need to know if I should go to the dealer and get the latest update, or does it already have it?
Also, lets say they came out with several updates at different times, each to fix a completely different issue. When you get it upgraded, does the latest update fix ALL issues, or do they have to update for each individual issue???
Sorry if this is common knowledge, just trying to get a grasp on all this computer crap, but any input would be appreciated!
I picked up my 2011 in Aug 2011 but it was built in 2010, the dealer had already updated it to the latest flash, they did it to all the super duty's on the lot.
I had them verify in the database.
When they reflash to the most current version it brings the truck up to date and corrects all the issues listed for that version.
I would ask the service tech to verify in the system that yours is up to date.
I think it would vary from dealer to dealer. If they have a BUSY service dept, I doubt they get to it often and vise versa. I'd bet they do check before handing over the keys though. When you're in finance and they're taking three hours to detail the thing. you could simply call to check if they have record of updates.
From what I have heard it is unlikely that they will do them before the vehicle is bought. Reason is that as part of PDI they will get paid for the flash if indicated and pre sale they will not.
