It only happens when it's very cold (close to 0*) so a relay wouldn't make sense...my only thought is that it would be cold cranking amps but my batts are new, and so is the alternator...maybe the starter took a beating last winter with the crappy batteries I had? Does that make sense?
Good chance of it..
I just put a new napa type one on it a few minutes ago (identical to my last one) and it started up two times in a row and a LOT quicker then before.
Hoping the issue is resolved..
Total costs: 2 new napa legend batteries that I got for $300 (would have been $418 without my friends account)
New soleniod $41.
New starter $371, but get $117 back when I take my old one in. (2 year warranty)
TOTAL UNEXPECTED COST $597, but if this fixes it, I will feel better knowing I have a new starter and two new batteries for a few years dependable service.
Its the 2 bolt OEM style that is the geared version.
Priced around everywhere here today..
Prices were as high as $345 (canadian tire, auto parts store here)
$299 napa (for either the 2 or 3 bolt)
and this was the lowest priced one, I use this parts store a good bit as they are a smaller mom/pop one that treat customers good. (Few times, I paid more there in the past just to give them the sales)
