Clearing DTCs with AE

If I clear the DTC's with AE it won't blow away the rest of the memory will it? Like the learned shift points and all that? I have a fairly constant P0603, starting to wonder if I need to replace the pcm...I do have a tuner, but I was of the understanding that the issue should not return after clearing DTCs as long as I dont change the tune...

It only clears the DTC's, nothing else. Also the shift points are not technically learned. The transmission is not adaptive so lots of discussions have covered this in the past.

What tuner do you have? P0603 is common when you change programming with a tuner like Superchips or Hypermax. You should be able to clear the codes with that after you reload the new tune. Then you won't see it unless you lose battery power.

Also I would not even think about replacing a PCM for a DTC. If you are not experiencing issues, there is no need.

No, you will be fine. Clearing the memory with AE just erases the DTC codes. On some later model vehicles there will be a P1000 code that remains for a while until you drive the truck around but I am not sure what year that actually started.

There are no learned shift points on the 4R100 so no worries there.

Thanks for the responses guys! So the P0603 code doesn't matter even if it keeps coming back after I clear it?

I wouldn't worry about it. Its a KAM code so it means power was lost at some point. Could be caused by a variety of things such as disconnecting the batteries, starter kill switches and possibly even removable tuner switchers. If you aren't having any issues then you might just want to ignore that code and drive the truck.
